WELCOME TO A ZOOMER'S GUIDE

The year 2024 has been positioned as the most important for democracy. With elections taking place in a number of countries this year, including the US, India, Russia, Iran, and the European Union, the media hasn't failed to remind us that 2024 may be the year that democracy makes or breaks.

But, with all the attention being on 2024, most people aren’t aware of an even bigger election happening in 2025: the Tanzanian General Election. Yes, the Tanzanian General Election. While for most of the globe, the Tanzanian General Election is nothing of consequence for them, it means a lot for the 65 million people who call Tanzania home.

It means much more to the millions of Gen Zs like myself who are now entering the most productive periods of their life, and their destiny will undoubtedly be determined by next year's elections and the policies implemented by said winners.

An election year poses several challenges not just for the country, its government, and its leaders, but also for the electorate, the people who vote, particularly first-time voters. The 2025 general election will be the first time I am entitled to vote in a general election, and the timing is impeccable because it will coincide with the start of my 20s.

That is why I created a Zoomer's Guide to the 2025 Tanzanian General Election (a lengthy title, I know). The goal of this website is to enlighten, educate, and raise awareness about the most pressing issues that our country faces as we head towards an election.

Politics can be a murky game with so many diversions and blurriness, but I'll do my best to nudge you, my dear reader, towards the objective reality. With that, welcome to the Zoomer's Guide to Tanzania's 2025 General Election. I hope you stay and learn a thing or two, but most importantly, I hope this blog will help you decide who to vote for in next year's election.
